I am qualified as a leadership and executive coach through the Institute of Leadership and Management.
I have been an active coach across the West Midlands region since 2008, helping senior managers working for different local authorities to regain their motivation, develop confidence and impraove their effectiveness within their organisation. People say I am open, direct and challenging inspiring them to improve their enjoyment, motivation and resilience to tackle leadership issues. Developing an effective coaching relationship is stretching but enjoyable, where we are working towards agreed coaching goals.
My career spans 18 years of public service senior management over a range of regulatory services. Latterly my work has specifically addressed crime and disorder through cooperative working with the Police, Fire, Probation NHS and other council services. I have also been involved in community cohesion working and the Prevent agenda.
This period has seen substantial change in the role of local authorities and placed greater importance on working in partnership with other organisations.
I also have experience in the private sector ('88-'94) assisting blue chip companies from the consumer products industry in achieving legal compliance and in developing quality management systems. The scope of this work included assisting in defending enforcement challenges and prosecutions, delivering internal and external training courses, providing quality consultancy and a flexible range of audit services addressing food safety, health and safety, and trading law compliance.
And this followed an earlier career in Trading Standards working in offices across the West Midlands as an accomplished investigator and regulator dealing with businesses and individuals from all backgrounds.
I also have experience of voluntary work in running a community association, as an elected Parish Councillor, and I am currently actively involved in supporting a major Clubmark accredited Shropshire Warriors Basketball Development programme in Shropshire, involving players from aged 5 yrs through to senior players in the English Basketball League.
